(偶错了,Yankees赢了WS)
Do people realize that 100-win regular seasons (RS) pretty much doom the
teams in playoffs since the wild card begun?
Only one exception: probably the best team ever in MLB: 1998 Yankees 114 rs
wins and 11-2 in playoff. Also 1998 is an abnormal season since 3 out 8
teams in playoff have more than 100 wins.
162 games + 19 maximum playoff games =181 games
Baseball is a game of statistics, law of averages, 60% win pretty much that
is it.
181games x 60%=108.6 games so if the team win 100 games in rs, statistically
games a team will win in playoff is more or less 10 games. You need to win 11
games to win the WS.
The 1998 Yankees broke out the pattern with already 114 wins in regular
season, so they are the exception.
What happened to the 2001 M's 116 regular season wins? They are the Mariners
!
I am not saying that a 100-win rs team won't win the WS but statically they
are not favored. There are at least one team with 100 rs wins in 10 seasons,
only the 1998 Yankees won it all.
